The movement, the stages (the Screaming Forest!), stage fatalities, stories, there’s no one stone left unturned! As with the original, there are a couple secrets hidden in the game, too (Jade, Smoke and Noob Saibot). ![]() ![]() Shang Tsung, given another chance and his youth back by Shao Kahn tries to take revenge on the Earthrealm heroes, having recruited some new allies and having lured the kombatants into outworld, thus gaining home court advantage… The game takes every single thing from the original and makes it better. The story starts right after MK1, after Earthrealm’s win of the tournament, whereby all of the kombatants are taken into Outworld, the domain of Shao Kahn (and where Goro from the original game comes from). ![]() Twelve kombatants, some returning from the original game, each story expanded upon, each one given special moves and Fatalities and new finishing moves (Friendship and Babality!). MK2 is a prime example of an expansion of the original idea. How often is the sequel better than the original? And what comprises to such a sequel’s success? It’s usually expanding on the original idea and adding a few bells and whistles, a few knick-knacks that will allow the recipients to engross themselves even more in what they loved so much.
