![]() Origin launched in 2011.Īddendum: Though, it seems there was something called "EA Loader" that was around as far back as 2005. EA offered Spore through Steam in Dec 2008 (and didn't allow retail owners to register through Steam). All they really mean is weather they are supported or not. Actually, Origin wasn't available until well after Spore was released. Yes it is, those little OS icons are irrelevant. Go make an EA/Origins account and buy it there. If you own a Mac and want the game as old as it is, with no further updates and very little official tech support. Only the Windows version. Most likely because their previous sales through their Origins store were to Winodws users, so the people most likely to waste money on it here on Steam would be. When Electronic Arts basically abandoned the game, but decided they could still use it as a cashgrab, they ported the Windows version to Steam. And it was avaialble for download through that store for both Windows and Mac.
